Lynsey Bridgewater

Club Executive (Managing Director) at AND Digital

How did you first get into tech/innovation?

My career in tech began over 30 years ago when I got recruited into a role because of my language skills and got cross trained on the job to deliver tri-lingual network support.

What did your career path look like before landing your current role?

After roles in some of the biggest tech companies in the world including Microsoft and the UK subsidiaries of both TCS and Tech Mahindra, I joined AND Digital in 2022, initially based in Bristol, and later became second-in-command of the Birmingham office, before taking on the role of Club Executive (Managing Director) last summer.

Was there a moment or opportunity that helped you break into the industry?

Not really, its the industry I have always been in since graduating from uni.

What challenges have you faced working in tech, and how did you overcome them?

I’ve faced both blatant sexism and tokenism throughout my career, from comments like “even you managed it” to being positioned as “the woman” to help organisations appear more diverse.

Over time, I’ve learned to reframe that and use my difference as a strength, ensuring I’m remembered and that my voice is heard by stakeholders.

I’ve also spent over 20 years as a working mum and have experienced the stigma that comes with choosing to work part-time, with assumptions that I wasn’t taking my career seriously.

In 2020, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, which brought additional personal and professional challenges.

Through all of this, I’ve focused on maintaining my professionalism and continuing to move forward, sometimes sideways and sometimes upwards into more senior leadership roles.

What does your role involve day-to-day?

I lead the strategic, financial, and operational performance of our Birmingham office, overseeing a 30+ person team delivering large-scale digital transformation projects for enterprise clients.

I’m responsible for regional P&L, commercial growth, people strategy, delivery quality, and client success – while also supporting ERP improvements, workforce planning, gaining ISO27001 and ISO9001 certifications and building external partnerships.

What advice would you give to women who want to work in tech or innovation?

I have never thought of myself as a woman in tech, just someone who works in tech, although I was very often the only woman in the room.

I want every other woman who works in technology to feel exactly the same way. I want every girl who is considering a career in technology to feel exactly the same way. That they are just someone who works in tech.

What do you love about working in the South West tech ecosystem?

I love how connected everyone is, how your path keeps crossing with people you’ve worked with before (even people I went to school with!)
