Top Ten Sustainable Activewear Brands



As a self-confessed ‘gym-aholic’ I spend most of my days in activewear. A few years back I did some digging and discovered a whole new world of sustainable activewear, so I thought it was time to share my top ten sustainable activewear brands.
You can thank me later…you won’t want to miss a gym session when you look this good in your sustainable sets!
TALA

Tala was founded in 2019 by Grace Beverly and aims to bring sustainably and ethically produced activewear to the market without compromising on performance, flattering fits, and fun colours! They use materials such as lyocell and recycled nylon and produce their clothing in factories in Portugal, Turley, China, Vietnam, and Italy.

Girlfriend Collective   

Girlfriend Collective are putting people and the planet first with their inclusive, sustainable activewear. Girlfriend Collective believes that fishing nets and plastic bottles look better on us than in our oceans…and from what I can see I’d agree! Their ethical production and use of recycled materials are certified through certifications such as SA8000, WRAP, and Oeko Certified fabrics to ensure that their products adhere to their ethical and sustainable standards throughout their supply chain.

Manola

Belen Hostalet, the founder and creative director of Manola, mixes sport and style in her eco-friendly, luxury activewear. Their use of Pyratex and Econyl fabrics are part of their ‘Rescue, Regenerate, Remake, Reimagine’ method reducing the use of energy sources such crude oil and saving on CO2 emissions in their #manolamovement.

Organic Basics

You may have guessed it from the name, but Organic Basics make their products from GOTs certified organic cotton, among other high-quality sustainable fabrics, to ensure their products are designed to last. Their trusted factories in Portugal, Austria, Scotland, Turkey, and Italy ensure that workers practice in a safe environment, are paid a living wage, offered free lunches and childcare and are free from child and forced labour.  

Silou

Silou activewear can take you from yoga to brunch in the most stylish and sustainable fashion. By producing in small amounts within Europe and using susty materials to create ranges such as their BCI cotton range Silou always strive to be 100% sustainable where possible.   

Outdoor Voices

This recreation-focused activewear brand is bringing the fun back to fitness by encouraging people to live active lifestyles while protecting our playground (Earth!). Outdoor Voices creates high-quality products with people and planet in mind by investing in a circular business model, using closed-loop materials such as MegaFleece and RecPoly, and focusing on reuse and repair. 

GNGR Bees

Everything you find at GNGR Bees comes with its own story. Opting for a single-use plastic free supply chain meant we needed to find alternatives. This led us to the beginning of an unforgettable journey that created lasting partnerships, development of projects & meeting people that think as we do. Our partners, our community and nature is where we find inspiration to embrace and do more every day.

Wolven 

Kiran Jade, Wolven’s founder, and CEO has created a community that honors the planet. Their unique designs and flattering fits are the cherries on top of their sustainable products. With independently certified suppliers Wolven ensures that their clothes are made in the most ethical methods possible. They also invest in carbon offset initiatives as well as using carbon-neutral fabrics such as modal. They also have a pre-loved section where you can buy secondhand Wolven items!

Vyayama

Vyayama is a small business creating activewear from plant-based materials such as their certified Tencel. Their nature-inspired designs are perfect for all you yogi’s out there who want to connect to yourself and the environment around you.

Indigo Luna

It’s time to reconnect and respect mother nature through Indigo Luna, a family-run brand helping us all move through life a little more peacefully with minimal impact on our beautiful planet. Their use of natural plant dyes and recycled, organic materials such as natural plant viscose come together in the form of their consciously designed activewear pieces you’ll want to live in morning and night.
