For the last five years, Overland Expo has created an “Ultimate Build” to flex its off-road muscle. Previous builds include a Lexus LX600, a Toyota 4Runner, and a GMC Sierra 2500 ATX4. This year, Overland Expo teamed up with Nissan for a rugged Frontier Pro-4X.
The 2026 Frontier features Nismo rock sliders, a heavy-duty winch system, auxiliary lighting, and a Tune Outdoor M1L bed-mounted pop-up camper. The Pro-4X trim comes with a raised suspension thanks to Bilstein shocks, 17-inch satin gray alloy wheels wrapped in Hankook Dynapro AT2 all-terrain tires, and an electronic rear differential.
Under the hood is Nissan’s naturally aspirated 3.8-liter V6 engine paired with the nine-speed automatic. The powertrain produces 310 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque. Anthony Sicola, the expo’s Ultimate Vehicle Build project manager, said:
‘The Frontier PRO-4X is one of the most honest overland platforms on the market. It doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not—and that’s exactly why it works so well.’
The rugged Nissan will make its debut this weekend at Overland Expo West in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Motor1’s Take: The Nissan Frontier stands out for its simplicity, making it a compelling companion for those off-road adventures with tons of available parts and upgrades available. The Overland Expo is the perfect place to exhibit what’s possible with the pickup.
