Porsche Race Cars: Retro Apple Computer Liveries

  • Two Porsche 963 race cars will wear a special Apple Computer livery this weekend.
  • The livery pays homage to one worn by customer-owned Porsche 935 K3 from 1980.
  • The one-time livery design also celebrates Apple’s 50th anniversary.

When a pair of Porsche 963 race cars hit Laguna Seca this weekend, they’ll be wearing a special Apple Computer livery. The retro look pays homage to the livery worn by the customer-owned Porsche 935 K3 from 1980, which competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. And it is absolutely beautiful.

The one-time livery design also celebrates two 2026 milestones: Porsche’s 75th anniversary and 50 years since Apple’s founding. Apple’s iconic and colorful logo is on the roof, with the company’s bold colors accenting the fenders, hood, bumper, and fin.

The two Porsche 963s will race on May 3 in the fourth round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, competing in the GTP class. Apple’s vice president of Apple Music, Sport, and Beats, said:

‘We’ve enjoyed a longstanding relationship with Porsche, going back to 1980 when a Porsche race car first carried the Apple logo. That moment marked the beginning of a shared passion for innovation and creativity that continues to define our collaboration today. As Apple celebrates its 50th anniversary, we’re proud to once again partner with Porsche on a design that pays tribute to that original 1980 livery.’

Motor’s Take: Apple’s colorful logo might not be as iconic as other liveries, but it looks stellar against the 963’s white body and black accents. While Porsche says this is a one-time design, we hope the pair collaborate again in the future.
