Nick and Kimberley have both been shortlisted for the ‘best writer – news’ award.
Nick, who has been a key part of the team on GPonline and its predecessor GP magazine, for many years, has a deep understanding of the issues affecting general practice and was shortlisted for a number of exclusive stories he broke last year. He was also recognised for his data journalism work, including his coverage of how the GP workforce has changed over the past decade.
This is the second year in a row that Kimberley has been shortlisted in the best writer – news category. Kimberley, who has been senior reporter on GPonline for almost three years, was shortlisted this year for exclusive stories about the impact of the GP jobs crisis, how changes to online access as part of last year’s contract affected practices and a freedom of information request that exposed additional roles reimbursement funding underspend.
GPonline editor Emma Bower said: ‘These nominations are really well deserved. Nick and Kimberley are both brilliant journalists and I’m delighted that their work for GPonline has been recognised by the BSME.’
Alongside this, GPonline’s sister site MIMS Learning was shortlised for podcast of the year for its podcourse series, an innovative blend of online learning and podcast-style listening, which has covered CKD and migraine so far.
The winners will be announced on 13 May.
