The Civil Service has launched a recruitment campaign for senior ICT specialists in networks and cyber security, targeting experienced professionals to help deliver secure, scalable digital services across government.

With more than 50,000 employees across 18 government departments and more than 20 agencies, the Civil Service is continuing to invest in digital infrastructure to support Ireland’s ambition of becoming a leading digital nation.

Cyber security and network roles at the core of public services

The newly announced roles, at higher executive officer (HEO) level, will place successful candidates at the centre of mission-critical ICT operations. These positions focus on strengthening network infrastructure, enhancing cyber resilience, and ensuring the secure delivery of essential public services.

Senior ICT Specialists will contribute to systems that underpin key government platforms, including:

  • National Childcare Scheme
  • Revenue online services
  • Agri-food subsidy systems
  • Company registration platforms
  • The national census
  • Driver Licence Online
  • Social welfare systems
  • Civil registration services (births, marriages, deaths)
  • Employment permits
  • The gov.ie portal

Driving Ireland’s digital government strategy

These roles are aligned with broader Government strategies aimed at improving digital engagement between the State, citizens, and businesses. From cybersecurity architecture to network optimisation, selected candidates will help deliver high-availability, secure services at national scale.

For ICT professionals specialising in networking, infrastructure, or cybersecurity, this represents an opportunity to work on impactful projects with real societal value.

Dublin-based opportunities with nationwide impact

A panel will be formed from this competition to fill multiple vacancies across the Civil Service, with most roles expected to be based in the greater Dublin area.
