Being able to provide excellent workforce training programs is important to many communities and regions that are looking to grow their economies.
So, we were pleased to learn that Auburn Career Center has been awarded $69,583 in state funding from the Ohio Department of Higher Education’s Center for Training Excellence Program. That money will be used to expand customized training and business consulting services for employers in Lake, Geauga and surrounding counties, The News-Herald’s Chad Felton reported.
According to officials, the funding will support the vocational school’s role as a regional workforce training provider, allowing direct partnerships with local businesses to design and deliver customized, industry-driven training aligned with in-demand and emerging occupations.
Priority training areas include health care, manufacturing and public safety, “sectors that are critical to the region’s economic strength and workforce needs.”
Moreover, through the program, Auburn will provide services such as workforce needs assessments, customized training plans, curriculum development, job advancement strategies and continuous improvement support tailored to the unique needs of area employers.
The News-Herald is confident that Auburn Career Center will use this money very wisely to bolster its workforce development training initiatives.
