Venpalavattom Devi Temple Pongala Festival 2025 March 7

The annual festival falls in the month of Kumbam. The festival this year is conducted from 1st March 2025 and conculdes with pongala nivedyam on 7th March 2025. The pongala adupu firing ritual is on 9:50 am in the morning. 

Venpalavattom Bhagavathy Temple is one of the most famous Devi Temples in Kerala. The temple is located at Anayara, Thiruvananthapuram and has a history of more than 800 years.  The temple is unique in that the Devi is worshipped in her two contrasting forms: as Bhagavathy, in her gentle “Satvik” state and as Bhadrakali, in her fierce “Rajasik” state. The temple history is traced further back to the story of Kannagi, depicted in the great Tamil epic “Silappathikaram”.
