
The Taylor Wessing Photo Portrait Prize showcases the work of talented young photographers, gifted amateurs and established professionals in the very best of contemporary photography.

Currently showing at the National Portrait Gallery until the 8th Feb 2026, the competition “celebrates a diverse range of images and tells the fascinating stories behind the creation of works, from formal commissioned portraits to more spontaneous and intimate moments capturing friends and family. ”

I found it to be something of a mixed bag this year.
Although some of the work was excellent, others failed to make much of an impact on me, not helped by some truly pretentious text descriptions.

Is it worth the tenner to see it? Just about, I guess, although it was almost worth the admission prize to see these wonderful two photos below:
