Startup for 10: TympaHealth – techSPARK

3) What’s been your proudest moment or milestone as a company so far?

My proudest moment is the impact we’ve had on patients. In just 3.5 years, we’ve helped over half a million people in the UK and worldwide. As a single surgeon I could never have reached that scale. Knowing our work at TympaHealth has touched so many lives is what makes me most proud.

4) What have you personally learned as a founder on this journey, and how has it changed you?

I’ve learned that resilience is really important. As a founder, there are always highs and lows, and countless competing priorities. What’s changed me is learning to stay focused, keep moving forward, and maintain balance – drawing strength from family, friends, and exercise.

5) What advice would you give to someone wanting to start a healthtech or medtech company?

It’s important to live the problem you are trying to solve and really understand your target customer. In the early days I would spend time with customers across the country, seeing how they used the product and what they found difficult so that I could help solve problems and build a better product to get to product market fit.

6) What excites you most about the future of healthtech/medtech?

Healthcare is a sector that has an exciting future. What excites me most is seeing AI move beyond promise into real-world clinical pathways. The future of health tech isn’t just about algorithms, it’s about embedding AI into everyday care, enabling earlier detection, smarter decisions, and more time for patients. The real breakthrough will be when AI doesn’t just innovate, but truly transforms the way we deliver healthcare in the future.
