OPPO has officially confirmed the global launch of its next-generation camera flagship, the Find X9 Ultra, set to debut on 21st April, 2026. Positioned as a major leap forward for the brand, the device aims to push smartphone photography into new territory with a strong focus on advanced zoom capabilities.

According to Pete Lau, OPPO’s SVP and Chief Product Officer, the Find X series has always been driven by a pursuit of imaging excellence—and the X9 Ultra is the company’s most ambitious step yet. At the heart of that ambition is a new Hasselblad-branded 50MP telephoto system, capable of delivering true 10x optical zoom alongside what OPPO claims is an industry-first 20x “optical-quality” zoom. The goal is clear: blur the line between smartphone and dedicated camera.
One of the biggest hurdles in mobile photography has long been physical space. Most flagship smartphones top out at 4x or 5x optical zoom due to the tight constraints inside a slim handset. OPPO’s solution is a newly developed quintuple-prism reflection-periscope system. By redirecting light through five separate reflections, the company has achieved genuine 10x optical zoom while reducing the camera module’s length by 30%. The result is a more compact design that doesn’t sacrifice the phone’s overall form factor.
Backing this hardware is what OPPO calls its “Pristine Optical Path Architecture.” The system uses a carefully engineered prism made from three precision components, separated by a nanometer-scale diaphragm and a specialised air capsule. This setup is designed to preserve image integrity as light travels through the lens system, ensuring cleaner data reaches the sensor.

Stability is another key challenge at high zoom levels, where even minor hand movements can ruin a shot. To address this, OPPO has introduced a new sensor-shift optical stabilisation system with an extended range of motion. The company says this will allow users to capture sharper, more stable images even at extreme zoom levels.
Altogether, the Hasselblad-backed 50MP telephoto lens serves as the centrepiece of a broader imaging system that combines advanced optics with computational photography. With the Find X9 Ultra, OPPO isn’t just iterating on smartphone cameras—it’s making a serious attempt to redefine what they’re capable of.
