A baby’s speech development is a wonderful journey filled with curiosity and anticipation. Along with babies’ first steps, their first words are an exciting milestone that parents look forward to. A baby’s first words are often the ones they recognize from their environment and from their daily routines. While most most babies say their first word around 12 months, typically basic words like “mama” or “dada”, toddlers actually start understanding sounds as early as 4 weeks. During this early stage of their lives, babies learn best through repetition, sound, and visuals, which is why having engaging tools that capture their attention can make a big difference in how quickly and confidently they pick up new words. One great example is Ms. Rachel First Words Talking Flash Cards.

After that, simply choose one of the 50 included flashing cards, which feature actions, animals, and more with Ms. Rachel’s voice, then fully insert your chosen card into the card reader and click the yellow button on the left of the device to hear the word associated with that card.
Comes with 50 flash cards featuring different written words, images, and spoken words of different animals, actions, and more
Before inserting a card, parents can point to the image on each card and name it to their baby. Doing so can help babies make connections between the spoken word, written word, and the visual image that word is associated with, which can help babies develop their cognitive skills.
Once a flashing card is inserted, listen together with your baby as Ms. Rachel pronounces each word clearly, encouraging your little one to repeat and learn that specific word. This should help develop your baby’s communication skills, as kids can develop vocabulary skills by listening to and learning the proper pronunciation of words, thus helping build their confidence to speak one word at a time.
Parents can also show their child how to insert cards into the card reader and press its buttons to show them how they can hear the same sounds again. This not only will help them connect action with response, but will also help develop their motor control and hand-to-eye coordination, thus strengthening their motor skills.
Pressing the card reader’s top left yellow button makes it repeat the respective word from the flash card that’s currently inserted.
Integrated at the back of the device, there’s also a volume switch that enables parents to swap between quiet mode and loud mode as a way to adjust the card reader’s volume level.
Each unit also comes with a bonus learning card that lets parents explore educator-approved play ideas, offering parents and their babies extra play tips and skill-building activities that can further help with their child’s speech and cognitive development.
