Fourth Day Celebrations – Talap Desavasi’s Offering
The annual Mahotsavam of Sree Sundareswara Temple, one of Kannur’s most revered spiritual landmarks, will be celebrated from 27 March to 3 April 2026. The festival begins with the ceremonial flag hoisting (Kodiyettam) on Friday, 27 March 2026 at 6:00 PM, conducted at the auspicious muhurtham. The festivities will conclude with the sacred Arattu ritual on Friday, 3 April 2026, marking the spiritual culmination of the celebrations.
This historic temple holds deep cultural and philosophical significance, having been consecrated on 11 April 1916 by the great social reformer and spiritual leader Sree Narayana Guru. His message of universal brotherhood and spiritual equality continues to resonate through the temple’s traditions and festivals.
Significance of the Fourth Day – 30 March 2026 (Monday)
The fourth day of the Mahotsavam, observed on Monday, 30 March 2026, is traditionally offered by the Talap Desavasis. Dedicated to the presiding deity, Lord Sundareswara, this day carries special devotional importance. The Talap community extends their prayers and offerings, seeking divine blessings for prosperity, harmony, and spiritual well-being.

Morning – 8:30 AM
Seeveli Procession (Sheeveli Ezhunnallathu)
The morning rituals commence with the traditional Seeveli, where the deity is ceremonially taken around the temple precincts, accompanied by devotional chants and percussion.
Evening – 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM
Seeveli Procession
The evening Seeveli enhances the spiritual ambiance, drawing devotees into a deeply immersive experience of devotion and reverence.
Chenda Melam – Rhythmic Grandeur
A spectacular Chenda Melam will be performed by nearly forty accomplished percussion artists, disciples of the late Chenda maestro Sri Gangadharan Gurukkal. The ensemble will create a mesmerizing rhythmic atmosphere, echoing across the temple grounds and elevating the festive spirit.
7:30 PM to 10:00 PM
Annadanam (Sacred Feast)
Devotees will be served Annadanam, symbolizing compassion, equality, and community sharing.
