Introducing the podcourse – a new way to learn that fits into your busy life

This 3-part series – focusing on chronic kidney disease – is presented by consultant nephrologist Dr Andrew Frankel and follows the case of a 66-year-old man of South Asian heritage, who has type 2 diabetes, hypertension and ischaemic heart disease.

In part 1, out on Monday 15 September, Dr Frankel explains why and – importantly – how you should ‘look for kidney disease early and intervene rapidly’. Part 2 (available 16 September) discusses why lifestyle modifications are ‘the foundation’ for improving CKD outcomes, and gives an update on best practice for medicine optimisation. And part 3 (available on 17 September) reviews the case two years down the line, and considers when the clinical focus should shift from preventing disease progression to planning for end-stage kidney failure treatment.

After listening to these brief and informative podcasts, complete a quick quiz to test your knowledge and then work through guided reflections with a downloadable worksheet to identify how you can take your knowledge into day-to-day practice.
