Few things capture the feeling of instant refreshment quite like a perfectly blended frozen slushie. From their bright colors and wide variety of flavors to the refreshing feeling they provide, there’s nothing like having an icy slushie, especially in the summer. Until now, frozen carbonated slushies have been limited to large and expensive commercial-grade machines, which require complex installations and take hours to prepare, clean and change flavors. But what if there was a convenient way to make fizzy slushies at home? Enter ICEPLOSION, a beverage tech company that recently unveiled the world’s first at-home frozen carbonated slushie machine at CES 2026, designed to make single-portion frozen fizzy and non-fizzy slushies as well as ice-cold sodas in just a few minutes—all from a compact countertop appliance that’s easy to operate.
WHO IS ICEPLOSION?
ICEPLOSION is an innovative beverage technology company that specializes in creating the world’s first ever frozen carbonated slushie machine for the home market. The company was founded by Andrew Heighway, who, despite having always loved frozen carbonated slushies, was surprised to find that in the 70-year history of this type of drink, there wasn’t a machine available for purchase that would allow people to make his favorite frosty drinks at home.

Andrew had some ideas of how he could make such a home-use machine and was set on developing a system in early 2021. After a 4-year intensive research and development program, the ICEPLOSION machine was born.
ICEPLOSION recently introduced its ICEPLOSION machine at CES 2026, which can deliver single-portion frozen carbonated and non-carbonated slushies, ice-cold sodas, and soft drinks in mere minutes, without the size, cost, or complexity of traditional equipment.

During CES 2026, we had the pleasure to interview ICEPLOSION’S founder and CEO, Andrew Heighway, who said “I’ve always been a huge lover of frozen carbonated slushies, which are typically available through convenience stores like 7-Eleven in the US. However, you can’t really get hold of these drinks unless you go to a corner store, or to places like an amusement park or the movies, which is particularly the case for people living outside the US”.
Mr. Heighway also noted that “While there are around 155,000 establishments in the US alone that make and sell frozen slushies, the machines these establishments use are all high-volume machines. These machines aren’t suitable for home use, as they require a big electrical supply, a powerful filtered water supply, and a large bottle of CO2, along with the complex installation and high maintenance behind them. Not to mention these machines can’t just make a single drink on demand, as they’re specifically designed to make 30 to 40 drinks at a time, while also taking multiple hours to start a fresh batch of a different flavor.”
Heighway finished by saying “The ICEPLOSION machine solves those issues by allowing slushies and sodas to be made at home in a matter of minutes. Thanks to that, people who enjoy these drinks no longer have to leave their home just to get a sip of their favorite chilled beverages.”
WHAT IS ICEPLOSION’S SLUSHIE MACHINE?
ICEPLOSION’s machine is an advanced beverage system that integrates carbonation, freezing, automation, and smart-home technology into a compact countertop unit. Designed for convenience, creativity, and on-demand hydration, it offers users at-home beverage experiences for maximum refreshment delivered with minimal effort.
The machine leverages cutting-edge at-home drink technology, which makes it capable of producing single-portion 720 ml (24 fl. oz.) frozen carbonated slushies, as well as 500 ml (16 fl. oz.) non-carbonated slushies, ice-cold sodas, and soft drinks, all in in as little as 2 to 4 minutes.

For carbonation, the machine uses standard 60-litre CO2 gas cylinders, meaning users can go with their preferred brand of CO2 bottles, while also making the unit easy to maintain.
It also features NFC-enabled capsule recognition, enabling it to automatically identify drink type, flavor, and use-by date for precise, hands-free preparation. There will be more than 20 sugar and sugar-free drink flavors available at launch for customers to choose from.
Integrated at the front, there’s also a built-in touchscreen with a user-friendly interface that makes its operation simple and straightforward.
In addition, ICEPLOSION’s machine also boasts a 1-minute self-cleaning cycle, so users can start making a new drink after barely any waiting time.
Lastly, the machine will also integrate a mobile app that will allow for smart-home functionality, customization, and future updates.
WHAT ARE ICEPLOSION’s FUTURE PLANS FOR ITS SLUSHIE MACHINE?
According to ICEPLOSION’S CEO, Andrew Heighway, one of the main reasons for the company to showcase its slushie machine at CES was to introduce its beverage system to businesses where it could offer the convenience of having delicious refreshments on demand. That’s especially the case for the US since frozen slushies are such a beloved cold drink for many people across the country, which already has a well-established market.
ICEPLOSION is also currently testing other drink types for its beverage system with the aim of catering to a wider consumer base.
The company is planning to sell its slushie machine at a retail price of $700, and each flavor capsule at approximately $1, which will be available to purchase in packages of different sizes.
ICEPLOSION’S machine is scheduled to launch in markets around the world before summer 2026.
