Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin are reducing their business presence in California according to recently filed state documents.
By December 2025, Sergey Brin will have terminated or relocated about 15 companies (LLCs) that manage his investments and interests to Nevada.
Larry Page has inactivated or placed outside California about 45 LLCs linked to him. At the same time, a trust linked to Page bought a $71.9 million villa in Miami, Florida.

These changes indicate that both billionaires are reducing their ties to California – though not necessarily selling all their properties there.
The timing of these shifts coincides with a proposed California tax measure that seeks to impose a one-time 5% wealth tax on residents with assets over $1 billion. If passed, the measure would apply retroactively from 1 January 2026 – which could mean huge tax bills for extremely wealthy individuals.
