- This case has once again shattered the myth that religious extremism stems from poverty or illiteracy. The accused were highly educated, well-paid professionals holding supervisory positions in a reputed BPO. It proves beyond doubt that such systematic harassment and religious coercion are driven by a deep-rooted jihadi ideology, not socio-economic factors.
- The silence of secularists, rationalists, and feminists on this horrific injustice is deafening. Had the victims been from any other community, their protests would have been loud and sustained. Their selective outrage reveals that Hindu victims do not suit their narrative, exposing their rank hypocrisy. – Editor, HJS

Nashik, Maharashtra – A major controversy has emerged in Nashik following serious allegations of sexual harassment, workplace exploitation, and coercion involving employees at a business process outsourcing (BPO) unit linked to a leading IT services company.
The case first came to light on March 25, when a young woman approached the Deolali Camp police station alleging sexual exploitation and harassment by colleagues at her workplace in the Mumbai Naka area. She stated that the incidents spanned several years, from 2022 to 2026, and involved both sexual misconduct and actions that hurt her religious sentiments.
Considering the seriousness of the allegations, Nashik Police expanded the investigation and appealed to other employees to come forward. Within days, additional complaints were received. By April 3, nine FIRs had been registered based on testimonies from eight women and one man.
SIT conducts undercover probe
According to the SIT, a specially constituted team carried out an undercover operation to uncover the corporate racket. The unit comprised seven officers, including three women, who played a crucial role in the investigation. Building on earlier findings, the team conducted a detailed probe that brought new evidence to light.
The women officers were instrumental in gaining the confidence of victims, which helped expose the misconduct and ultimately led to the registration of FIRs and subsequent arrests.
Details of the misconduct and how it operated
According to the complainants, junior Hindu staff members were subjected to prolonged sexual exploitation by accused individuals who, reportedly belonging to the Muslim community, held supervisory roles. Victims stated that fear of job loss and workplace retaliation prevented them from coming forward earlier.
The allegations include a range of misconduct, from inappropriate remarks and gestures to molestation and coercion into relationships. Victims also claimed that their complaints were either discouraged or ignored by the HR department.
Several employees further alleged that they were subjected to derogatory remarks about their beliefs, pressured to participate in practices such as offering namaz, and in some cases coerced into consuming food against their preferences, including beef.
Arrests and investigation
Police have arrested multiple individuals, including Asif Ansari, Shafi Sheikh, Shah Rukh Qureshi, Raza Memon, Tausif Attar, and Danish Sheikh. Additionally, a senior HR official has been taken into custody following allegations that earlier complaints were ignored despite being brought to the management’s attention.
Authorities have stated that the accused allegedly misused their positions of authority to manipulate and exploit subordinates, creating an environment of fear and silence within the organisation.
The case has triggered strong political reactions. Some leaders from the BJP, including Nitesh Rane, have referred to the incident as “Corporate Jihad”, alleging a broader pattern of targeted exploitation within corporate environments.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis described the matter as “very serious”, emphasising that such incidents have no place in the state and assuring strict action against those found guilty.
Maharashtra Minister Girish Mahajan alleged that Hindu victims were forced to offer namaz, consume beef, and insult their religion, adding that attempts were made to convert them. He also stated that the women may have been victims of a racket involved in luring and subsequently blackmailing them.

SIT takes charge of ongoing investigation
In view of the seriousness of the allegations, the state government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to carry out a comprehensive inquiry. Investigators are examining workplace practices, internal complaint mechanisms, and the full extent of the alleged misconduct.
District Collector Ayush Prasad has also ordered an inquiry under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) Act at the company. He stated that investigations by both the police and the district-level committee will determine whether the company adhered to mandated procedures, including proper registration of complaints and maintaining proactive vigilance as required under the PoSH Act.
