Departmental Eligibility:
Employees of the High Court/Subordinate Courts in Punjab, Haryana, or U.T. Chandigarh serving for at least 5 years in roles not below Senior Assistant, B-grade Assistant, or Stenographer/Judgment Writer.

Chandigarh High Court Reader Age Limit

  • Direct Posts: Candidates must be between 35 to 40 years as of the last date (04 August 2025).
  • Ex-Servicemen: Relaxation of age by length of defence service plus 3 years.

Chandigarh High Court Reader Selection Process

The selection process for Reader (Legal) posts includes the following stages:

  1. Written Examination (250 Marks)
    • English Composition: 50 Marks
    • Civil Law: 100 Marks
    • Criminal Law: 100 Marks
    • Each paper will be of 3 hours duration. Minimum qualifying marks: 50% in English, 40% in each of Civil and Criminal Law papers.
  2. Computer Proficiency Test (Qualifying Only)
    • Word Processing Test (Typing) – 10 Marks
    • Spreadsheet Test – 10 Marks
    • Candidates must score 40% marks in each part to qualify.
  3. Viva-Voce (30 Marks)
    • Minimum qualifying marks: 35%
