Netflix has been sued in Texas over claims it collects data belonging to children and adults in the US state without their consent, and uses “addictive” design to keep them hooked. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton accused the streaming giant of “spying” on citizens saying it “records and monetises billions” of pieces of information about how users behave on the platform, despite suggesting otherwise. “Every interaction on the platform became a data point revealing information about the user,” his office said. The board of eBay has rejected the US video games retailer GameStop’s surprise $55.5bn bid (£41bn) for the online marketplace, describing the proposal as “neither credible nor attractive”. Earlier this month, GameStop made an unsolicited bid for eBay, publishing a letter on its website outlining a half-cash, half-stock proposal. This was despite the US games company – which became a global household name during the meme stock craze of 2021 – being worth far less than its takeover target. Guardian

Google has updated one of its photo apps, bringing new powers to Android phones – and this isn’t a Pixel exclusive, because everything is accessed through an app. The update has come to Snapseed, one of the best photo editors of yesteryear that’s now been fully updated for Android.
