Google Cloud mapped out a clear new course for the corporate world at its Next conference in Las Vegas. The technology company is moving away from classic, reactive chatbots and introducing the vision of the ‘agentic enterprise’ in which smart and autonomous AI agents independently analyse data and take targeted action.

The shift to these autonomous systems naturally calls for an exceptionally powerful technological foundation. To that end, Google Cloud is launching its eighth-generation TPU chips, which carry out computing processes at lightning speed and at a particularly cost‑efficient rate. In addition, the company is presenting the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. This is a comprehensive development environment where technical teams can build and manage their own specialised AI agents.

Through this platform, users gain direct access to advanced models such as Gemini 3.1 Pro, Lyria 3 and Claude Opus 4.7 from Anthropic. The system enables employees to automate complex business processes via the new Agent Designer. Moreover, integration with Google Workspace ensures that storage space is transformed into an active collaboration partner for the entire team.

Data under your own control

An autonomous system can only function flawlessly with reliable data and watertight security. That is why the company is introducing the Agentic Data Cloud. This architecture processes corporate data so quickly that agents can intervene immediately when changes occur. Security is central to this, via the Agentic Defense application. That platform combines Google’s own security expertise with systems from its partner, Wiz.

The result is a digital shield that automatically detects and neutralises cyber threats across different cloud environments. In this way, companies retain full control over their data and protect their network proactively against external attacks. Managing thousands of agents is also extremely precise thanks to automated control systems.

The theory sounds very promising, and the first results in the workplace confirm the enormous potential of this shift. Global market leaders are already making full use of the new technology. Vodafone, for example, uses Google Cloud’s autonomous agents to proactively detect network failures and resolve them immediately. This decisive move significantly increases the reliability of the network and saves the telecoms company millions of euros every year.

Bosch is also integrating the system into its internal AskBosch platform, allowing employees to deploy their own agents for a wide range of tasks. EcoVadis is likewise applying the technology to increase its operational efficiency and create new growth opportunities. “The technology is fully ready for use and it is now up to companies to start building a growth engine,” said Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian.
