Bowers & Wilkins has expanded its flagship Px8 S2 wireless over-ear headphones with two additional color options, taking the lineup to five finishes in total. The new Midnight Blue and Pearl Blue variants go on sale today, April 22, priced at US$799, CDN $999, £629 in the UK, and €729 in the European Union.

The additions slot in alongside the Px8 S2’s existing Onyx Black and Warm Stone trims, as well as the special-edition Px8 S2 McLaren Edition in Anthracite Gray with metallic Papaya earcups. Both new colors retain the Nappa leather wrap on the primary surfaces and the aluminum detailing that gives the Px8 line its premium, jewelry-like feel, and each ships with a matching carrying case.

Midnight Blue and Pearl Blue: what the new Px8 S2 finishes look like
Midnight Blue is the moodier of the two. A deep navy covers the headband and outer ear cups, offset by warm gold accents on the headband stems, earcup rears, and control buttons — a two-tone, almost dress-watch look that’s noticeably more formal than the standard Onyx Black.
Pearl Blue goes the other direction. Its headband and outer cups wear an icy, near-white blue, finished with silver hardware on the stems and earcup rears. It’s the lightest-feeling finish in the lineup and reads as more springtime and fashion-forward — closer in spirit to the Warm Stone tan than the classic black.
Same flagship Px8 S2 underneath
Aside from the paintwork, nothing mechanical has changed. Bowers & Wilkins launched the Px8 S2 in September 2025 as the successor to the award-winning original Px8, and the company still pitches it as the best-sounding wireless headphone it has ever produced. Each ear cup houses a 40mm Carbon Cone drive unit paired with a 24-bit high-performance DSP and a dedicated amplifier and DAC, aimed at the brand’s signature “True Sound” tuning.
Active noise cancellation is handled by eight microphones in total — four per cup — which also drive a refined transparency mode and B&W’s algorithm-based voice pickup for calls. Inside the Bowers & Wilkins Music app, owners get a new five-band customizable EQ on top of the default TrueSound preset, so it’s possible to dial in extra bass for hip-hop or flatten the curve for critical listening.

Wireless support is about as comprehensive as it currently gets on a consumer set of cans. The Px8 S2 runs Bluetooth 5.3 with aptX Lossless, aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, aptX Classic, AAC, and SBC, plus Bluetooth Multipoint for pairing with two devices at once, Google Fast Pair, Apple MFi certification, Auracast, and spatial audio support. A USB-C port handles charging and doubles as a digital audio input, and there’s also a 3.5mm option via the included cable for wired listening.
Battery life is rated at 30 hours of playback with ANC engaged, and a 15-minute fast charge delivers around seven hours of use, in line with other premium flagships in the category.
How the McLaren Edition fits in
The Px8 S2 McLaren Edition, released a few months after the standard launch, leans into Formula 1 styling with embossed McLaren branding on the headband, Anthracite Gray Nappa leather, and metallic Papaya orange accents. It sits $100 above the regular model at $899 and is currently listed as out of stock in the US, making it more of a halo product than a mainstream option.
Part of a wider B&W color push
The Px8 S2 expansion isn’t happening in isolation. Bowers & Wilkins has just refreshed its Px7 S3 over-ears and Pi8 true wireless earbuds with new finishes as well, pushing the total headphone and earbud portfolio to 21 different color SKUs — the largest range the brand has ever offered at once. It’s a clear play to stay visible in a category where fashion-led colorways have become increasingly common at the premium end.
The brand still keeps the lineup anchored by its ongoing campaign with brand ambassador David Beckham, but the move to cooler blues signals that B&W wants to broaden the headphones’ appeal beyond a single signature look.
Pricing and availability
Bowers & Wilkins says the Px8 S2 Midnight Blue and Pearl Blue are available to order starting April 22 through its own website and authorized retailers, including Amazon. Stock is already live in parts of Europe, while US and UK listings may show “notify me” status briefly as the first wave of inventory makes its way through channel partners.
The Midnight Blue and Pearl Blue finishes don’t carry any extra markup over the existing Onyx Black and Warm Stone options — all four standard Px8 S2 variants share the same $799 price point. Only the McLaren Edition commands a premium. European retailers are already discounting the older Onyx Black and Warm Stone finishes below €700 on Amazon, which is worth watching for buyers who aren’t set on the new colors.

If you’ve been holding off on the Px8 S2 because the original two finishes felt too conservative or too warm, this second wave gives the lineup a cooler, more distinctive pair of options — and keeps Bowers & Wilkins’ flagship can firmly in the conversation for anyone cross-shopping premium noise-cancelling headphones this spring.
