Lenovo has spent decades earning its reputation in the business laptop world, and the ThinkPad name carries weight that few competitors can match in enterprise environments. The company just decided that weight should extend beyond laptops. At MWC 2026 in Barcelona, Lenovo introduced the ThinkTab X11, the first Lenovo rugged tablet to carry the Think name, designed for frontline workers who need a device that can survive job sites, factory floors, and the back of a delivery truck without flinching.

What makes this one interesting isn’t just the durability specs, though those are impressive enough. The ThinkTab X11 can operate without a battery installed. The Think brand goes Android
Lenovo’s Think portfolio has been synonymous with Windows PCs and business laptops for years. The ThinkTab X11 marks the first time that branding has landed on an Android tablet, and the move signals something bigger than a single product launch. Lenovo is positioning itself to compete in the rugged Android tablet space that has traditionally been dominated by specialized manufacturers like Zebra, Panasonic, and Samsung’s enterprise division.
The target audience here isn’t someone browsing Netflix on the couch. Lenovo built this for workers in logistics, manufacturing, construction, transportation, and energy sectors. These are environments where consumer tablets last about as long as a paper cup in a rainstorm, and where the ability to manage a fleet of devices from a central IT dashboard matters as much as the hardware itself.
A rugged tablet that takes hits
The ThinkTab X11 carries both MIL-STD-810H certification and an IP68 rating, which means it has been tested against drops, vibration, extreme temperatures, dust ingress, and water submersion. The rugged hardshell provides 360-degree protection around the chassis, and Lenovo designed it so users can swap the hardcase for a regular back panel when the environment doesn’t demand full armor. That flexibility keeps the tablet from feeling like overkill in less demanding settings.
Underneath that shell sits a 10.95-inch IPS LCD running at 90Hz with 600 nits of peak brightness. The display supports both glove and wet-touch input, which matters enormously on construction sites and in warehouses where bare fingers aren’t always an option. Workers wearing heavy gloves or dealing with rain and condensation can still navigate the interface without removing protective gear or wiping down the screen.
Performance and connectivity
Lenovo went with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 for processing power, paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. That configuration sits squarely in the mid-range for consumer Android tablets, but for enterprise workloads like inventory management, route planning, and field documentation, it provides more than enough headroom without burning through battery life on unnecessary overhead.
Connectivity covers the essentials for always-on fieldwork. Wi-Fi 6E and 5G keep the tablet connected across different environments, while front-mounted NFC handles data capture for inventory scanning, access control, and field authentication. Dual USB-C ports let users charge and connect peripherals simultaneously, which eliminates the frustrating choice between plugging in a barcode scanner and keeping the battery alive. Lenovo also included stylus support with a case that houses the pen, adding another input method for workers who need to annotate documents or sign off on deliveries.
The removable battery changes the math
The 10,200mAh battery provides solid endurance for full-shift use, but the real story is what happens when you take it out. The ThinkTab X11 uses a screwless removable battery design that lets workers swap cells in seconds without tools. In shift-based operations where multiple workers share the same device, a fresh battery goes in at the start of each shift and the tablet never needs to sit idle on a charger.
Battery-less mode takes that concept further. When the tablet is mounted in a vehicle, bolted to a workstation, or installed in a kiosk, it can run entirely on passthrough power with no battery inserted. This eliminates long-term battery degradation in fixed installations and removes the safety concerns that come with leaving lithium cells in hot environments like truck cabs and factory equipment for extended periods.
Enterprise management built in
Lenovo isn’t just selling hardware here. The ThinkTab X11 comes with integrated enterprise management and security capabilities that let IT departments deploy, configure, and monitor fleets of devices at scale. For organizations already running Lenovo’s ThinkShield security platform across their laptop fleet, extending that same management layer to a tablet feels natural rather than additive.
The closest competitor on paper is Samsung’s Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro, which shares the same Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor and also offers IP68, MIL-STD-810H, a removable battery, and a no-battery operating mode. Where Lenovo pulls ahead on specs is the display (10.95 inches at 90Hz and 600 nits versus Samsung’s 10.1-inch panel), RAM ceiling (12GB versus 8GB), storage ceiling (512GB versus 256GB), and price. Samsung’s Wi-Fi model starts at $659, while the ThinkTab X11 starts at €499. Samsung’s advantage is availability and track record: the Active5 Pro is already shipping and the Active line has years of enterprise trust behind it.
Lenovo’s counter is ecosystem continuity. A company already running ThinkPads on every desk can now hand ThinkTab X11 units to field workers and manage everything through the same ThinkShield security layer and familiar IT tools.

Pricing and availability
The Lenovo ThinkTab X11 starts at €499, with availability beginning in April 2026 across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. Lenovo hasn’t confirmed US availability or pricing yet. US pricing, based on similar enterprise tablet launches, would likely land in the $499 range if and when it arrives stateside.
