Richard succeeds Nick Sturge MBE, who has chaired the Board with dedication and steady leadership. techSPARK is delighted that Nick will remain on the Board as a Non-Executive Director for the next 12 months, ensuring continuity and allowing the organisation to continue drawing on his insight and commitment to the community he has helped shape.
As part of this new chapter, techSPARK is also pleased to welcome Caroline Cooper to the Board. Caroline brings extensive experience in strategic leadership, organisational development and supporting innovative, high-growth businesses. Her appointment further strengthens the Board’s ability to champion the region’s tech community. Caroline joins existing Board members Renee Jacobs, Samantha Payne and Ben Shorrock, who continue to play an invaluable role in guiding techSPARK’s work across Bristol, Bath and the wider South West.
techSPARK CEO Ben Shorrock said:
“It was fantastic to have Richard host the Chairs Dinner last night — a great moment to mark the transition. Richard’s energy and experience will be a real asset as we support innovators and founders across the region. We’re also incredibly grateful that Nick will be staying on the Board. His guidance and contribution over the years have played a huge role in the growth of techSPARK and the wider ecosystem.”
Richard Spilsbury said:
“I am delighted to be given the opportunity to support the techSPARK team to build on everything they have achieved to date. As a not for profit enterprise, we look forward to continuing to support, bring together and celebrate the brilliant people and businesses that support our tech community, including the founders, business leaders, investors and professionals.”
Nick Sturge said:
“It has been a privilege to work with Ben and the team to build techSPARK’s first Board and now hand over to the fresh energy, skills and perspectives of Richard. It’s been a great journey over the last four years, helping position techSPARK as the leading growth network serving the tech community of Bristol & Bath. I look forward to supporting techSPARK’s own growth over the next year.”
The Board and team look forward to working closely with Richard as he leads techSPARK’s strategic direction, while continuing to collaborate with Nick in his new role.
